We are back with a few newsbytes and another poll covering Kate’s maternity style.
Our first item is about Prince Philip. He has been struggling with hip problems, and even missed some engagements because of the ongoing problem. He was hospitalized Tuesday, and Buckingham Palace says he has had a successful hip replacement and that the surgery was a planned procedure. This photo shows the Duke and HM, it is one of three commemorating the couple’s platinum wedding anniversary.
A Buckingham Palace news release says the Duke is “progressing satisfactorily at this early stage. His Royal Highness is likely to remain in healthcare facility for several days. He is comfortable and in good spirits.”

Prince Philip has received hampers filled with Godiva chocolates and stunning arrangements of flowers as he recovers from his hip operation.
Bright orange, yellow and red blooms from a posh Fulham flower shop were dropped off at the private King Edward VII healthcare facility in central London on Thursday.
The 96-year-old Duke is expected to be in the healthcare facility several a lot more days.

Tonight’s other news item involves a site lots of of us are familiar with, Polyvore. As I mentioned on Twitter, lots of a fashion ID was made by means of content on Polyvore. The site was sold and shut down today. This headline is by means of the San Diego service Journal.

Sunnyvale-based Polyvore has been sold to Montreal-based Ssense.com, according to Oath, a subsidiary of Verizon Communications. The deal was announced Thursday with no disclosed price. The buyer said it will shut down Polyvore’s website, apps and operations, effective immediately.
There is a Polyvore blog post here with a lot more info. The San Diego service Journal story reports that “As of Thursday, existing Polyvore users can download their account at account-update.polyvore.com by may 10, according to the deal announcement. They will have until may 15 to retrieve all their content.”

We now turn to our poll reviewing Kate’s looks during her second trimester, November – January. I put evening gowns and very casual styles in separate polls in a desperate attempt to make this poll shorter; clearly, I didn’t do as good a job as I hoped! (Our post and poll covering Kate’s first-trimester style may be seen here.)
Here we go, beginning with a Place2Be conference where the Duchess wore a new design from Goat Fashion, the brand’s Eloise dress. We saw Kate in a new piece by Catherine Walker for the annual Festival of Remembrance in the center photo. At Remembrance Sunday Kate wore a coat by Dolce and Gabbana.
Kate was in an old favorite for a check out to Hornsey road Children’s Centre in November, the oft-worn Redgrave coat by a brand she has worn a terrific deal during this pregnancy, Goat Fashion. The next time we saw Kate she was in another Goat repeat, the Washington Coat. This was the first of two outfits worn for a day’s engagements in Birmingham; the second ensemble is part of our upcoming poll covering casual looks. One of my favorite engagements last year was the November check out to the Foundling Museum; I had never heard of the museum and very much enjoyed learning about it. For that engagement, the Duchess elected to wear a dress by Kate Spade. At a media summit in Manchester Kate sported a new LK Bennett coat, the Delli Check style.
Continuing with what Kate wore to the media summit, underneath the coat she sported another Goat style, the label’s Elodie tunic dress. For a December engagement at the Rugby Portobello Trust, the Duchess wore a favorite of lots of Kate fashion followers, the Marina coat from go-to maternity label, Séraphine. Kate opted for a navy Carolina Herrera coat when attending a somber memorial service for those impacted by the deadly Grenfell Tower fire. When it came to Christmas, she shocked lots of of us wearing a new label, Miu Miu.
For church services at Sandringham in early January we saw the return of Kate’s Turpin Tweed coat by Moloh. When visiting Reach Academy, Kate wore a new coat by Hobbs London, the retailer’s Gianna style. underneath the coat Kate wore a dress we saw when she was expecting Princess Charlotte, the Florrie Printed Woven Maternity Dress, also from Séraphine. Kate and William had an ‘away day’ in mid-January, visiting Coventry; she brought back the vivid fuchsia coat by Mulberry first seenin new York for the Coventry engagements.
There was another new label for the Duchess this year, at least as far as we know: Boden. For a terrific Ormond street healthcare facility check out Kate wore the brand’s Lena Coat ($330) in a color called red pop. When at a Heads together engagement Kate wore the blue Sportmax coat first seen when she was expecting Charlotte. underneath the coat, another dress from Séraphine; this one is called the Royal Blue Tailored Maternity Dress. On the far right, another Séraphine design, the brand’s Natasha coat, worn for a pair of engagements in London.
The next time we saw Kate and William they were in Stockholm, Sweden, the couple’s first stop on a four-day tour. For an official lunch at Sweden’s Royal Palace Kate wore a Catherine Walker dress, and later we saw a matching coat. The second day of the excursion brought a red and white Catherine Walker coat worn atop a wool-blend bouclé Alexander McQueen dress.
Our final January looks, an Ida Sjöstedt coat and Erdem dress, both worn to a reception in Stockholm.
